The Lake Clifton community needs our help. Nine homes and a granny flat were destroyed along with numerous sheds, vehicles and livestock in the recent fires, which started on Monday 10 January.
After the bush fires many families were left with nothing. Many returned to burnt out homes with nothing but the clothes they had on their back. Kids lost favourite toys. Families lost beds and dining room tables. Years of hard work and many treasured possession simply disappeared in the flames.
It must be heart-breaking for those families affected.
To make matters worse the Queensland floods have over-shadowed the devastation of the Lake Clifton fires. Why all this devastation has happened at once we’ll never know but we do know our neighbours need our support.
So our team is doing something to help.
Over the next couple of days we’ll be collecting bedding, clothing, kids toys, non-perishable food items and toiletries – basically anything that will help give a family a hand up and get them smiling again.
The volunteers at the Waroona Recreation centre told me there’s a desperate need for furniture and children’s toys.
Insurance companies could could take weeks or months to process claims but families need to live today. They need our help.
If you have any items you’d like to donate please drop them off at our office at 935b Albany Highway, East Victoria Park.
We’ll then get the donations to the Waroona Recreation Centre volunteers who will distribute them to those most in need.
If all the agents along the strip in Victoria Park gave just one item we’d have enough to fill up a small truck. Imagine the smiles that would create.
It’s only a small thing we’re doing but every little bit helps.

We have a double bed and mattress if it will be any help for a family in Lake Clifton?
Hi Jill, yes that would be fantastic. Unfortunately it’s too big for my office and vehicle. I know they’re looking for furniture so I’m sure they’d appreciate the offer. Thanks for being so generous.
